A love letter to Courier, the quintessential Hollywood typeface.
While the entertainment industry is highly creative, it's rare to hear their work discussed from a designer's perspective. When I was invited to participate in LA Is Just My Type's PechaKucha event, I knew immediately what I wanted to cover in seven minutes: Courier, the stalwart monospacer that's been used in every Hollywood screenplay since the invention of the moving picture.
I later converted this PechaKucha talk into an hour-long presentation for LAIJMT's Typography Dojo, a Crowdcast.io series featuring a bunch of incredible designers, from Gemma O'Brien to Rod Cavazos. I'm not entirely sure how I managed to sneak in there, to be honest with you! But I am very grateful to Rachel Elnar for the opportunity.
